"PYD" Closes Headquarters Of Anti-Assad Assyrian Party

Autonomy of the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) has closed the headquarters of the Assyrian Democratic Organization in the city of al-Hasakah, the thing that was condemned by the Assyrian Observatory for Human Rights, considering that this action will drag the province of al-Hasaka into further divisions.

The Assyrian observatory for Human Rights said that members of the "Asayish" who are affiliated to the so-called Kurdish autonomy, sealed on Wednesday the headquarters of the Assyrian Democratic Organization in the city under the pretext of not having a license for the Organization by the so-called Kurdish autonomy.

The observatory declared that such arbitrary and unlawful practices against the Assyrian Democratic Organization are to destabilize the security and stability of all the components of al-Hasakah and threaten its ethnic, religious, and cultural diversity.

The observatory called upon all the international organizations that support freedom and democracy in the world to interfere in order to stop such practices and violations by the Kurdish autonomy as they breach a number of international laws and charters that guarantee the right of freedom of speech.

The opponent Syrian Assyrian democratic organization is considered one of the oldest Assyrian parties founded in 1957, and it has a number of headquarters in al-Hasakah, which is considered the main stronghold of it. Those headquarters are used as centers for cultural, political, social, and charitable activities. The Assyrian organization was one of the first supporters and participants in the protest movement against Assad's regime and it is also a founding member of the National Council and the National Coalition of the Syrian opposition.
