Street war in Kafr Roma causes regime forces dozens of casualties

Fierce clashes took place between the regime forces and their supporting militias on the one side, and the opposition factions on the other side in the town of Kafr Roma, in Idlib's southern countryside, Baladi News correspondent reports.

During the clashes, dozens of the Assad regime fighters and militiamen have been killed, including an officer, Baladi correspondent says.

Since last night, a violent street war is taking place between the two sides, where the regime forces and militias are attempting to take control over the town, while the opposition factions are thwarting their attempts despite the intense ground and air bombardment,, the correspondent points out.  

He indicates that since last night, the opposition fighters killed more than 40 members of the regime forces, including Lieutenant Colonel Firas al-Nabhan.

During the clashes, the opposition factions destroyed a 23 mm cannon belonged to the regime forces and killed its crew.

The factions also destroyed a BMP vehicle, as well as a number of military vehicles that were evacuating the wounded or transporting militiamen and ammunition to the front lines.

Following capturing al-Dana town, the regime forces attempt to take control over Kafr Roma so they can besiege the city of Maarat al-Numan in Idlib's southern countryside.
