Turkish authorities arrest 82 Syrians as heading to Greece by sea

Turkish coast guard forces seized 88 illegal migrants in the western state of Aydin as they tried to cross to Greece by sea.
Turkish media sources said that the Turkish coast guard seized the migrants on two rubber boats off the coast of Didim area of Aydin province.
"Preliminary investigations revealed that 82 of the migrants hold Syrian nationality and the other six are Palestinians," the sources added.
The Coast Guard handed over the migrants to the Directorate of Immigration in Aydin following the preliminary investigations, to complete legal proceedings against them.
The Greek Ministry of Citizens Protection confirmed on September 17 that there are more than 26 thousand migrants on the Greek Aegean Islands, most of them are Syrian refugees who crossed from Turkey and that is the highest number recorded since the implementation of the agreement signed between EU and Turkey in 2016 to stop the refugees influx to Europe.
