Save The Children have released a new campaign video depicting the life of a teenage girl attempting to escape war-torn Britain - highlighting the daily experience of millions of people worldwide.

The video shows the perilous journey of a 13-year-old girl attempting to escape a country ravaged by civil war.

She is played by Lily-Rose Aslandogdu, 13, from Essex, who previously starred in a 2014 campaign video that has been viewed over 50 million times.

Save The Children’s Tanya Steel said: “This video captures the terrible experiences of thousands of children every day, many undertaking horrific journeys that no one should ever have to endure. We wanted to bring home the reality of what it’s like for those children, to capture the British public’s attention.”

“Lily’s journey is like those of hundreds of thousands of other child refugees searching for a better life.

“This is a generation of children who have lost everything – their home, their education, their family and in some cases their lives. Save The Children is calling for more support for children fleeing these conflict zones. We want a new deal for refugees, to ensure every child gets an education, protection and a fair start in life.”

According to figures from the United Nations Refugee Agency, more than 325,000 children have crossed into Europe from the Middle East.
